Description:
Those who took some Latin will easily translate “Non Confunditur” as “do not get confused.” Although this impressive (confusing?) blend of 40% Cabernet and 20% each Sangiovese, Merlot, and Syrah comes from Montalcino, it cannot be called Brunello, but it is a dramatic wine with great intensity and complexity. It is quite a powerhouse and utterly delicious! Serve it with steaks and stews. The stunning villa of Argiano was built at the top of a hill south-west of Montalcino in the Renaissance by the Peccis, a noble family from Siena. It changed hands several times over the centuries, and in 1992 it was acquired by the countess Noemi Marone Cinzano. The estate is best known for its Brunello and several IGT blends. The NC blend is made by fermenting the four varietals separately. The components are then aged for several months in a combin-ation of second year French barrique and traditional Slavonian oak. Argiano’s vine-yards have a wonderful microclimate. Constant winds from the Maremma keep summer temperatures from getting too hot. At 300 meters above see level, the nights cool down, preserving acidity and balance. Moderate rainfall promotes better and healthier ripening, bringing more concentration and flavors to the wines.
