In 1983, visionary winemaker Don Melchor Concha y Toro brought vines from Bordeaux and was the first to plant them in the Maipo Valley, Chile. This namesake wine has remained a standard-bearer of luxury winemaking for three decades, paying tribute to the terroir of Puente Alto. For over 20 years, Winemaker Enrique Tirado has carved a path as one of the most influential figures in Chilean winemaking, leading Don Melchor to new heights of excellence and prestige.

The grapes for this amazing 35th vintage of Don Mechor Cabernet Sauvignon come from the Puente Alto Vineyard, which was crowned as one of the world’s great terroirs. The wine is rich, intense, full-bodied, richly textured, structured, complex, and layered with great balance, rounded tannins, and fresh acidity. Graphite, cassis, iron, blackberry, blackcurrant, forest floor, cedar, exotic spices, and touches of cocoa roll lovingly across the lush palate. It will pair beautifully with a juicy beef tenderloin and mushroom gravy.

The 2021 Viña Don Melchor Cabernet Sauvignon has been named Wine Spectator's 2024 Wine of the Year.
